A fully remote Water Resources Engineer opportunity is available for U.S. residents who want to design practical solutions for flooding, stormwater, drainage, and sustainable water infrastructure. Join a collaborative engineering team creating impactful projects from anywhere while advancing your technical career and improving communities.

About the Role

As a Remote Water Resources Engineer, you will plan, analyze, and deliver engineering solutions that protect communities from water-related hazards while supporting responsible development. You will work on projects involving hydrology, hydraulics, floodplain analysis, stormwater systems, erosion control, and water-resource resilience.

This is a 100% remote position based in the United States. You will collaborate with engineers, planners, environmental specialists, government clients, and consulting teams using digital project-management and design platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop hydrologic and hydraulic models for watersheds, drainage networks, rivers, and stormwater systems.
  • Prepare designs for culverts, detention facilities, channels, retention ponds, and erosion-control measures.
  • Analyze rainfall, floodplain, runoff, and water-quality data to support project decisions.
  • Create technical reports, drawings, cost estimates, and permit documentation for clients and public agencies.
  • Use tools such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, or similar software.
  • Review plans and calculations for accuracy, regulatory compliance, and constructability.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate project updates directly to stakeholders.
  • Stay informed about federal, state, and local water-resource regulations and engineering practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field.
  • At least three years of professional water-resources or civil-engineering experience.
  • Strong understanding of hydrology, hydraulics, stormwater design, and floodplain management.
  • Experience with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or comparable engineering software.
  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent written communication, technical-review, and client-service skills.
  • Professional Engineering license preferred, or eligibility to obtain one in your state.

Salary Range

Estimated salary: $78,000–$112,000 USD per year.

The final compensation depends on education, engineering experience, licensure, project responsibilities, and location within the United States. Qualified candidates with an active PE license and advanced modeling expertise may qualify for the upper end of the range.

Benefits

  • 100% remote work from anywhere in the United States
  • Flexible schedule with a focus on productivity and results
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match
  • Paid time off, holidays, and paid sick leave
