About the Role

As a Remote Commissioning Manager, you will act as the pivotal link between design, construction, and operations teams. You will develop commissioning plans, manage site‑based activities virtually, and verify that systems perform as intended before final acceptance. Your expertise will help minimize risk, reduce rework, and accelerate project timelines for clients across multiple sectors. You will also liaise with vendors to ensure that delivered equipment meets specifications, and you will lead lessons‑learned sessions to improve future commissioning processes. Your proactive communication will keep stakeholders informed and confident throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Create detailed commissioning schedules, test procedures, and documentation aligned with ASHRAE, IEC, and ISO standards.
• Lead virtual kick‑off meetings, coordinate with contractors, and oversee remote monitoring of equipment performance using SCADA and IoT platforms.
• Conduct FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) and SAT (Site Acceptance Testing) reviews, issuing clear deficiency reports and corrective action plans.
• Track progress against milestones, maintain accurate records, and prepare final commissioning reports for client sign‑off.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and facilitate knowledge transfer to operations and maintenance staff.
• Ensure health, safety, and environmental (HSE) compliance throughout the commissioning lifecycle, conducting virtual safety briefings and audits.
• Manage change control processes, evaluating impacts on scope, schedule, and budget, and obtaining necessary approvals.
• Utilize BIM 360, Procore, or similar collaboration tools to share drawings, test data, and commissioning logs with global teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering (or a closely related field).
• Minimum 7 years of commissioning experience on large‑scale industrial, power, infrastructure, or data‑center projects.
• Proven ability to manage remote teams and leverage digital collaboration tools effectively.
• Strong knowledge of testing methodologies, loop checks, functional performance testing, and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear technical reports and present findings to senior stakeholders.
• Proficiency with commissioning-specific software such as COMMISSION, iCommission, or equivalent platforms.
• PMP or comparable project management certification is highly desirable.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel up to 10% for critical site visits when required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience commissioning renewable energy plants (solar, wind, battery storage) or pharmaceutical facilities.
• Familiarity with LEED, BREEAM, or other sustainability certification processes.
• Background in developing and delivering training programs for operations and maintenance teams.

• Advanced degree (Master’s) in Engineering Management or a related discipline.

Salary Range

Based on industry data for senior commissioning professionals working remotely, the expected compensation is $95,000 – $130,000 USD per year, commensurate with experience, certifications, and the complexity of projects managed.
