Job Summary

Actalent is seeking an experienced Estimator to join its team in Newark, Essex County, US. The role involves preparing accurate, competitive bids for concrete construction projects and supporting the transition from bid to execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Review construction plans, specifications, and contract documents to understand project scope.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and develop comprehensive cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted services.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field staff to identify cost‑saving opportunities and value‑engineer solutions.
• Analyze project risks, develop contingency allowances, and present clear pricing summaries to senior leadership.
• Maintain a database of historical costs, vendor pricing, and productivity rates to ensure estimate accuracy.
• Prepare bid packages, including scope of work, cost breakdowns, and supporting documentation, and respond to client inquiries during the bid phase.
• Assist in post‑award activities by providing cost data for project scheduling, budgeting, and change order management.

Qualifications & Skills

• Minimum 3 years of estimating experience in concrete or heavy civil construction.
• Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, ProEst, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret plans, calculate quantities, and assess labor/productivity rates.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client interaction and internal reporting.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.

Compensation

Salary range: $93,091.09 annually.
