CalAIM Billing and Coding Manager

Job Summary

The County of Santa Barbara is seeking a full‑time CalAIM Billing and Coding Manager to lead its health department billing, coding, and training operations in Santa Barbara, California.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all CalAIM billing and coding activities ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Develop and deliver training programs for billing staff and clinical providers.
• Monitor and analyze billing performance metrics, identify trends, and implement process improvements.
• Coordinate with the County Health Department, insurers, and external vendors to resolve billing issues.
• Maintain accurate documentation, audit trails, and reporting for all financial transactions.
• Supervise a team of billing specialists, providing coaching, performance reviews, and career development.
• Stay current with changes to Medicaid, Medicare, and CalAIM policies.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Health Administration, Business, Finance, or related field (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in medical billing, coding, and reimbursement, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of CalAIM, ICD‑10, CPT, HCPCS, and Medicaid/Medicare guidelines.
• Certification such as CPC, CCS, or RHIA is highly desirable.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with billing software (e.g., Epic, Meditech) and Microsoft Office Suite.
