Grant and Contracts Accountant – Tampa, Hillsborough County
Robert Half is seeking a detail‑oriented Grant and Contracts Accountant for a mission‑driven organization in Tampa Bay. This full‑time role supports accounting and reporting of grant and contract activity while collaborating with the Grants Manager and finance leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate general ledger entries for all grant and contract transactions.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements related to funded projects.
- Assist the Grants Manager with budget development, revisions, and compliance monitoring.
- Ensure proper allocation of costs and adherence to sponsor guidelines and internal policies.
- Compile and submit required financial reports to funding agencies and auditors.
- Coordinate with program staff to gather supporting documentation for expenditures.
- Perform reconciliations of grant accounts, prepaid expenses, and accrued liabilities.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies, providing timely corrective actions.
- Support audit preparation and respond to auditor inquiries.
- Contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives within the finance team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or relevant certification preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in grant accounting, contract accounting, or nonprofit finance.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, fund accounting principles, and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
Compensation
Salary: $78,123.08 annually.
Location
Tampa, Hillsborough County, United States (on‑site).
