Sr. Accountant

Robert Half is seeking a Sr. Accountant for a long‑term contract in Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida. This role supports core accounting operations, ensures accurate financial records, and improves the monthly close process.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts for a high volume of transactions.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and year‑end financial statements and schedules.
• Assist in the month‑end close, identifying and resolving variances to meet tighter timelines.
• Analyze transaction flow, journal entries, and supporting documentation for accuracy and compliance.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to improve accounting processes and internal controls.
• Provide ad‑hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or public accounting environment.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, general ledger, and month‑end close procedures.
• Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication abilities.
