Job Summary
Lenox Hill Neighborhood House is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Accountant for its Upper East Side, Manhattan office. This full‑time role offers a competitive salary of $75,000 per year and the chance to support vital human services programs for the East Side community.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and record all vendor invoices, expense reports, and credit card transactions in a timely and accurate manner.
- Perform three‑way matching, resolve discrepancies, and ensure compliance with internal controls and GAAP.
- Prepare and execute weekly, monthly, and year‑end AP closing activities, including accruals and reconciliations.
- Maintain vendor master data, set up new vendors, and respond to inquiries regarding payment status.
- Collaborate with program managers to allocate expenses to the correct grant or fund codes.
- Assist with audit preparation, provide supporting documentation, and implement process improvements.
- Monitor cash flow forecasts and support the finance team with cash disbursement planning.
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 2+ years of accounts payable experience, preferably in a nonprofit or human services environment.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and excellent organizational abilities.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments.
