Director, Business Development – Specialty Pharmacy
About This Position
Cardinal Health is seeking a Director of Business Development for its Specialty Pharmacy division in Washington, D.C. This senior role leads growth initiatives with specialty manufacturers and biotech firms, focusing on cell, gene, rare disease, and exclusive therapies.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic business development plans to expand Cardinal Health Innovative Care Pharmacy’s specialty portfolio.
- Identify, negotiate, and close partnership agreements with pharmaceutical manufacturers, biotech companies, and payer networks.
- Lead provider engagement programs, ensuring seamless integration of clinical services and patient outcomes tracking.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—clinical, operations, finance, and analytics—to deliver end‑to‑end specialty solutions.
- Drive market analysis, competitive intelligence, and forecasting to inform growth strategies.
- Represent Cardinal Health at industry conferences, advisory boards, and stakeholder meetings.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Life Sciences or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in specialty pharmacy, biotech, or pharmaceutical business development.
- Proven track record of securing high‑value contracts and managing complex payer/provider relationships.
- Strong understanding of cell, gene, and rare disease therapies, reimbursement models, and regulatory environments.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to travel up to 30% nationally and internationally.
Compensation
Base salary: $116,865.66 per year.
