Scada Engineer

Job Summary

Mint Selection is looking for an experienced Scada Engineer to join a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in the United Kingdom. This hands‑on role focuses on commissioning, integration and troubleshooting of safety‑critical SCADA and automation systems on a live site.

Key Responsibilities

• Support SCADA and automation system integration on a BESS installation, ensuring reliable real‑time monitoring and control.
• Configure, program and commission PLCs, RTUs and HMI interfaces according to project specifications.
• Set up and maintain industrial communication networks (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, DNP3, etc.).
• Perform on‑site testing, debugging and optimisation of control logic to meet performance and safety standards.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical and civil teams to resolve cross‑disciplinary issues during commissioning.
• Develop and update technical documentation, schematics, and as‑built records.
• Provide training and support to operations staff for smooth hand‑over.
• Adhere to health, safety and quality procedures on a live, safety‑critical environment.

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in SCADA/automation engineering within energy, utilities or industrial sectors.
• Strong practical knowledge of PLC programming (Siemens, Allen‑Bradley, Schneider, etc.).
• Hands‑on experience with industrial communication protocols and networking.
• Ability to work on live sites, troubleshoot hardware and software issues under pressure.
• Good understanding of battery storage technology and grid integration concepts.
• Excellent problem‑solving, communication and teamwork skills.
• Relevant engineering degree or equivalent technical qualification.
