Join a forward-thinking engineering firm tackling the critical water challenges of the 21st century. We are seeking a dedicated Water Resources Engineer to design resilient infrastructure, manage flood risks, and ensure sustainable water use for communities across the Gulf Coast. If you are passionate about blending technical precision with real-world environmental impact, this is your opportunity to build a legacy.

About the Role

As a Water Resources Engineer, you will be at the forefront of projects that protect lives, property, and ecosystems. You will move beyond theory to apply hydrologic and hydraulic analysis to complex problems, from urban stormwater systems to regional watershed planning. Your work will directly contribute to climate resilience, water conservation strategies, and the development of sustainable infrastructure that serves generations to come. This role is perfect for a problem-solver who thrives in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment and wants to see their designs make a tangible difference.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Analysis

  • Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and SWMM for floodplain delineation, stormwater management, and channel design.
  • Design stormwater detention/retention ponds, culverts, bridges, and channel modifications in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., FEMA, EPA, TCEQ).
  • Perform water balance studies, drought resilience planning, and water supply feasibility analyses.
  • Prepare technical reports, permit applications (including Section 404/401 permits), and construction documents.

Project & Stakeholder Management

  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and client communications for multiple concurrent water resources projects.
  • Collaborate with civil engineers, urban planners, biologists, and surveyors to integrate water solutions into broader site developments.
  • Interface with government agencies, community groups, and clients to present findings, gain approvals, and build consensus.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas is highly desirable; willingness to obtain within 12 months if not currently held.
  • 3-7 years of progressive experience in water resources engineering, specifically in hydrologic/hydraulic analysis and stormwater design.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard software: AutoCAD, Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, ArcGIS Pro, and stormwater modeling tools.
  • Strong understanding of relevant regulations including NFIP, MS4 permits, and Clean Water Act requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Attributes

  • Experience with green infrastructure, low-impact development (LID), and nature-based solutions.
  • Background in coastal hydrology, tidal hydraulics, or salinity intrusion modeling.
  • Project management experience using PMI or similar methodologies.
  • A proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous learning and mentorship.
