Travel Adviser in Austin | Turn Wanderlust into a Rewarding Career

Are you a storytelling connoisseur with a passport full of stamps and a knack for turning “I wish” into “I did”? Wanderluxe Travel Collective seeks a passionate Travel Adviser to design life-changing experiences. This isn’t just booking trips; it’s about curating memories and building a loyal clientele from your home office or our vibrant Austin studio. If you live for the perfect boutique hotel find and the hidden-gem restaurant reservation, your expertise is in high demand.

About the Role

As a key member of our boutique travel team, you will serve as the primary architect of your clients’ adventures. Moving beyond simple flight and hotel bookings, you will dive deep into understanding each traveler’s unique motivations, preferences, and dreams. Using your extensive destination knowledge and our premium supplier network, you will construct seamless, personalized itineraries that exceed expectations. You will manage the full client lifecycle—from the initial dream-filled consultation to post-trip follow-up—becoming a trusted travel confidant. Your success is measured in client delight, repeat business, and glowing referrals, all supported by our industry-leading technology and marketing resources.

Core Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth consultations to uncover client travel goals, budget, and style.
  • Design and meticulously price custom, complex international and domestic itineraries.
  • Masterfully book and coordinate air, land, rail, cruise, and unique experiential components.
  • Provide expert advice on visas, vaccinations, local customs, and travel insurance.
  • Proactively manage client communication, providing pre-departure support and real-time issue resolution.
  • Build and nurture a personal client portfolio through exceptional service and strategic networking.
  • Stay ahead of travel trends, supplier offerings, and destination developments through continuous learning.

Requirements

We are looking for a professional who blends sales acumen with genuine hospitality. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a proven ability to manage multiple projects and an unwavering commitment to client satisfaction.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as a professional Travel Adviser, travel agent, or in a high-touch customer service role (hospitality, luxury retail).
  • Demonstrated expertise in planning and booking multi-destination, leisure travel.
  • Proficiency with a major GDS (Sabre, Amadeus, or Travelport) is a significant advantage.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills; a natural listener and clear explainer.
  • Tech-savvy with CRM tools (we use Salesforce), Microsoft Office/Google Workspace, and general booking platforms.
  • An innate curiosity about global cultures, cuisines, and experiences.

Preferred Attributes

  • Existing book of business or a strong, professional network.
  • Certifications such as CTC (Certified Travel Counselor) or specialist designations (e.g., cruise, destination).
  • Active personal travel blog or social media presence focused on travel.
  • Fluency in a second language is a nice plus.

Compensation & Benefits

We believe in rewarding exceptional talent generously. This is a commission-based role with a strong draw against commission to ensure stability during your ramp-up period.

Salary & Earning Potential

Estimated Annual Earnings Range: $48,000 – $68,000 USD/year (based on a competitive commission structure with a base draw). Top-performing advisers with an established book regularly earn $80,000+. Your income is directly tied to your sales performance and client retention, offering true uncapped potential.
