Join a pioneering team at Nexus AI Labs where your code directly contributes to life-saving diagnostic tools. We’re not just building software; we’re architecting the neural networks that will redefine how doctors detect disease. If you’re ready to tackle impossibly complex problems with elegant solutions, this is your mission.
About the Role
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be a core member of our platform engineering squad, responsible for designing, building, and scaling the backend infrastructure that processes petabytes of medical imaging data. You’ll work at the intersection of high-performance computing, cloud infrastructure, and machine learning deployment. Your work will ensure our AI models are not only accurate but also reliable, secure, and seamlessly integrated into hospital systems worldwide. This is a hands-on role where you will write code, mentor junior engineers, and influence the technical direction of a product impacting millions.
Key Responsibilities
Core Development & Architecture
- Design and implement robust, scalable microservices and data pipelines using Python and Go.
- Optimize model inference servers for low latency and high throughput on GPU clusters.
- Architect fault-tolerant systems on AWS/GCP with a focus on data integrity and uptime.
- Develop comprehensive APIs and SDKs for our clinical and research partners.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Partner closely with ML Research Scientists to translate experimental models into production-grade systems.
- Collaborate with DevOps and Security teams to enforce best practices in CI/CD, monitoring, and compliance (HIPAA, GDPR).
- Lead code reviews, champion technical debt reduction, and promote a culture of quality and innovation.
Requirements
Technical Expertise
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with 3+ years focused on backend/distributed systems.
- Expert proficiency in Python, with strong experience in at least one other language (Go, Java, C++).
- Deep, practical knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS preferred: EC2, S3, EKS, Lambda) and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Proven experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration in production.
- Familiarity with ML deployment stacks (TensorFlow Serving, TorchServe, ONNX Runtime) is a significant plus.
- Strong understanding of database technologies (PostgreSQL, Redis, time-series databases) and message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
Mindset & Soft Skills
- Obsessive about code quality, testing, and observability. You instrument everything.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment where the problem definition evolves.
- Excellent communication skills; you can explain complex technical trade-offs to non-engineers.
- Unwavering commitment to security and privacy, especially in a regulated healthcare context.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Salary Range
The base salary range for this position is $150,000 – $220,000 USD per year. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and location. This role is also eligible for a comprehensive benefits package and equity in Nexus AI Labs.
Benefits & Perks
We believe in investing in our team’s health, wealth, and growth.
- Health & Wellness: Premium medical, dental, and vision plans for you and your family. Generous mental health stipend.
- Financial Security: 401(k) match, company-paid life insurance, and disability coverage.
- Equity: Meaningful stock options because we want you to own a piece of what you’re building.
- Time Off: Unlimited PTO policy with a recommended minimum of 3 weeks. Full-company shutdown between Christmas and New Year’s.
