Senior Electrical Engineer <a href="https://wehired.agency/jobs/" style="color:var(--primary-color); font-weight:600;">Remote</a> Job: Lead Cutting-Edge Projects from Anywhere

Join a forward-thinking engineering team as a Senior Electrical Engineer in a 100% remote position. You will own the full lifecycle of complex hardware design, from concept to production, for systems that redefine industries. This is a hands-on role for a leader who thrives on deep technical challenges and wants to see their designs make a tangible impact, all with the freedom of a remote work structure.

About the Role

In this pivotal remote position, you will spearhead the electrical architecture for our next generation of products. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineering, software development, and project management, to deliver robust, scalable, and innovative solutions. Your expertise will guide junior engineers and set the technical standard for our hardware division. We operate in a fully distributed model, so exceptional communication and self-direction are as critical as your technical prowess. This is not a supervisory role in the traditional sense, but a technical leadership position where your influence shapes the company’s engineering future.

Day-to-Day Impact

Your daily work will involve schematic capture, PCB layout review (using Altium Designer), signal integrity analysis, and power systems design. You will author detailed design documentation, define test plans, and debug prototypes in our virtual lab environment, coordinating with local test facilities as needed. A key part of your role will be presenting design reviews to executive stakeholders and translating business requirements into precise engineering specifications. You will work autonomously on assigned modules while integrating your work seamlessly into the larger system architecture.

What You Bring (Requirements)

Essential Expertise

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 8+ years of professional experience in electrical hardware design, with at least 4 years in a senior or lead engineer capacity.
  • Proven mastery of schematic design and multi-layer PCB layout for high-speed digital and mixed-signal systems.
  • Deep, practical knowledge of power supply design (AC/DC, DC/DC), including thermal management and safety standards (UL, IEC).
  • Extensive experience with simulation tools (SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink) and analysis for signal integrity, power integrity, and EMI/EMC compliance.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard communication protocols: I2C, SPI, UART, Ethernet, CAN, etc.
  • Strong understanding of component selection, sourcing, and failure analysis.
  • Excellent English communication skills for clear written documentation and effective video conference collaboration.

Highly Valued Skills

  • Experience in the IoT, medical devices, aerospace, or automotive industries.
  • Knowledge of FPGA or microcontroller-based system integration.
  • Familiarity with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) principles.
  • Previous experience in a fully remote engineering team.
  • Active involvement in open-source hardware projects or professional engineering community.

Compensation & Benefits

We believe in equitable, competitive pay that reflects your expertise and impact. For this senior-level remote role, the estimated annual salary range is $135,000 – $175,000 USD. Final compensation will be determined based on your experience, skill level, and geographic location within the United States.

Our Remote-First Commitment

This is a true 100% remote position with no expected travel to a central office. We provide a comprehensive suite of benefits to support your work-life balance and professional growth:

  • Health & Wellness: Premium medical, dental, and vision insurance for you and your family (US-based employees).
  • Financial Security: 401(k) match, stock options, and a generous annual professional development budget ($3,000) for courses, conferences, and certifications.
  • Time Off: Flexible PTO policy plus 12 company holidays and a week-long winter shutdown.
  • Home Office: A one-time $2,000 stipend to optimize your remote workspace and a monthly allowance for high-speed internet.
  • Tools: Top-tier laptop, dual monitors, and all necessary software licenses.

The Team & Culture

You will join a tight-knit, globally distributed team of passionate engineers who value craftsmanship, curiosity, and collaborative problem-solving. Our culture is built on trust, asynchronous communication, and a shared mission to build technology that matters. We prioritize sustainable work rhythms and believe the best ideas come from focused, uninterrupted deep work. This role reports directly to the Director of Hardware Engineering.
