Are you a skilled engineer passionate about solving complex water challenges? We are seeking a dedicated Water Resources Engineer to join our innovative team in a fully remote capacity. This role offers the unique opportunity to design sustainable solutions for flood management, stormwater, and watershed resilience without ever being tied to a physical office, giving you the freedom to contribute from your home base.

About the Role

As a Remote Water Resources Engineer, you will be at the forefront of designing, analyzing, and optimizing water systems for diverse projects across the nation. Your primary mission will be to develop reliable models and engineering plans that address critical issues like urban flooding, water quality, and climate adaptation. You will work collaboratively with a distributed team of scientists, planners, and client stakeholders, leveraging cutting-edge software to deliver actionable insights and resilient infrastructure designs. This position is perfect for a self-motivated problem-solver who thrives in a digital-first environment and is driven by the tangible impact of their work on communities and ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform hydraulic and hydrologic modeling using industry-standard software (e.g., HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, InfoWorks).
  • Conduct floodplain analyses, stormwater management studies, and watershed assessments.
  • Design stormwater drainage systems, detention/retention ponds, and erosion control measures.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports, permit applications, and construction plans.
  • Participate in virtual client meetings, project workshops, and interdisciplinary design reviews.
  • Stay current with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., FEMA guidelines, EPA standards).

Requirements & Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with a strong foundation in civil or environmental engineering and a proven ability to execute water resources projects remotely. The ideal applicant is detail-oriented, communicative, and proficient with digital collaboration tools.

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources, or a closely related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • 4+ years of professional experience in water resources engineering, with a portfolio including modeling and design.
  • Expert proficiency in at least one major hydraulic modeling platform (HEC-RAS, XP-SWMM, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of hydrology, open channel flow, and stormwater management principles.
  • Familiarity with GIS (ArcGIS Pro) for spatial data analysis and mapping.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for remote collaboration and report writing.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly desirable and will be compensated accordingly.

Compensation & Benefits

We believe in fair and competitive compensation that reflects your expertise and the value you bring. This remote position offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your professional growth and personal well-being.

Salary Range

$75,000 – $115,000 USD/year (Based on experience, technical proficiency, and licensure. PE-licensed candidates will be considered at the top of the range.)
