We are seeking a passionate and skilled Water Resources Engineer to join our team in a fully remote capacity. In this pivotal role, you will design, analyze, and optimize critical water infrastructure projects that combat flooding, ensure water supply reliability, and protect ecosystems. If you’re driven by engineering excellence and want to make a tangible impact from anywhere in the U.S., this is your opportunity.

About the Role & Our Mission

You will serve as a key technical contributor on a diverse portfolio of projects, from floodplain modeling and stormwater management design to watershed studies and sustainable drainage systems. Working within a collaborative team of experts, your analyses and designs will directly influence the resilience and sustainability of communities across the country. This is a hands-on role where your expertise in hydraulic and hydrologic modeling will solve real-world challenges exacerbated by climate change and urban development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform complex hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling using HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, or similar software.
  • Design stormwater management facilities, channel improvements, and detention/retention basins.
  • Conduct flood risk assessments, floodplain mapping (FEMA compliance), and hydraulic analyses for bridges and culverts.
  • Prepare technical reports, permit applications (e.g., Section 404, NPDES), and construction documents.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, including environmental scientists, civil engineers, and planners.
  • Provide technical review and mentorship for junior staff.
  • Stay current with evolving regulations, industry standards, and best practices in water resources.

What You Bring (Requirements)

We are looking for a proactive problem-solver with a strong foundation in water resources engineering principles.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil/Water Resources Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in good standing (or ability to obtain within 6-12 months).
  • 4+ years of progressive experience in water resources/hydraulic engineering.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard software: HEC-RAS, AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS (ArcGIS Pro).
  • Demonstrated experience with FEMA flood insurance studies, NFIP regulations, and Army Corps permitting.
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills for report preparation and client interaction.

Preferred Attributes

  • Experience with 2D hydraulic modeling (HEC-RAS 2D, TUFLOW).
  • Knowledge of green infrastructure and Low Impact Development (LID) design.
  • Background in dam safety inspections or reservoir operations.
  • Familiarity with EPA BASINS or similar watershed planning tools.

Compensation & Benefits

We offer a highly competitive salary package that recognizes your expertise and contributions. The estimated base salary range for this position is $85,000 – $120,000 USD annually, commensurate with experience, technical proficiency, and professional licensure. Final compensation will be determined based on a review of qualifications.

Our Commitment to You

  • True Flexibility: 100% remote work from your home office anywhere within the United States. We trust you to manage your time and deliver exceptional results.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision insurance with a substantial company contribution. 401(k) plan with company match. Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) and paid holidays.
  • Investment in Your Growth: Annual professional development stipend for conferences, courses, and certifications. Support for continuing education and PE license maintenance.
  • Home Office Support: One-time home office setup stipend to ensure you have an ergonomic and productive workspace.
  • Impact-Driven Culture: Work on projects that protect communities and the environment. Be part of a supportive, innovative team that values work-life balance.
