About the Role

As a Remote Substance Abuse Counselor, you will conduct virtual assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, and provide ongoing therapeutic support to clients struggling with alcohol, drug, or co‑occurring disorders. You’ll collaborate with psychiatrists, social workers, and peer support specialists to ensure holistic care, all while maintaining accurate documentation in a secure electronic health record system.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive intake evaluations and risk assessments via video conferencing.
• Design and adjust evidence‑based treatment plans (CBT, MI, 12‑step facilitation, etc.) based on client progress.
• Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions, ensuring a safe, confidential environment.
• Provide crisis intervention and relapse prevention strategies as needed.
• Maintain up-to-date client notes, treatment summaries, and compliance with HIPAA and state licensing regulations.
• Participate in weekly multidisciplinary team meetings and ongoing professional development trainings.

Requirements

• Active license as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) in your state of residence.
• Minimum of 2 years of direct experience providing substance abuse counseling in outpatient, inpatient, or telehealth settings.
• Proficiency with telehealth platforms (e.g., Zoom for Healthcare, Doxy.me) and electronic health record systems.
• Strong interpersonal skills, cultural competence, and the ability to build rapport virtually.
