Imagine designing the next landmark skyscraper or sustainable community hub without ever sitting in traffic. As a Remote Structural Engineer at Apex Structural Solutions, you’ll tackle complex, high-impact projects for clients nationwide, all while enjoying complete location independence. This role blends deep technical expertise with the freedom to work from anywhere, offering a competitive salary and a clear path for professional growth.

About the Role

You will be a core member of our project delivery team, responsible for the full lifecycle of structural design for commercial, residential, and institutional buildings. Using advanced BIM and analysis software, you will transform architectural visions into safe, constructible, and efficient realities. Your work directly influences the built environment, ensuring structural integrity, code compliance, and innovative material use. This is a hands-on engineering role with significant client interaction and collaboration with architects, contractors, and MEP engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analysis and design for steel, concrete, and timber systems using software like ETABS, SAFE, and RISA.
  • Create detailed construction documents, specifications, and calculations.
  • Conduct peer reviews and ensure designs comply with IBC, ACI, AISC, and local building codes.
  • Collaborate daily with project managers and design teams via Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Slack.
  • Participate in client presentations and provide technical support during construction administration.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to our culture of knowledge sharing.

What You Bring

We need a proactive problem-solver with a relentless focus on quality and safety. You must be self-motivated, an excellent communicator, and thrive in a distributed team environment.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in any U.S. state is mandatory.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 5+ years of progressive structural engineering experience in building design.
  • Mastery of structural analysis software (ETABS, SAP2000) and BIM tools (Revit).
  • Deep expertise with building codes (IBC, ASCE 7) and material standards (ACI, AISC, NDS).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for remote collaboration.
  • A stable, high-speed internet connection and a dedicated, professional home workspace.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with seismic and wind design in high-hazard regions.
  • Familiarity with performance-based design and non-linear analysis.
  • Background in sustainable design (LEED, net-zero) or modular construction.
  • Project management experience or Procore/Bluebeam proficiency.

Compensation & Benefits

We believe in transparent and equitable pay. The base salary range for this position is $85,000 – $125,000 USD/year, commensurate with experience and expertise. Final offers will be within this range and may be adjusted based on your location, skills, and interview performance. In addition to base salary, you are eligible for an annual performance bonus and a discretionary profit-sharing contribution.

How We Work Remotely

Apex has been a fully remote company since 2018. We are built on asynchronous collaboration and clear communication. You will have a defined core collaboration window (typically 10 AM – 2 PM Eastern) for meetings, but otherwise, you control your schedule. We use a robust tech stack: Revit and BIM 360 for design, Procore for project management, and Slack for quick chats. Our culture is supportive and non-hierarchical—we value engineering rigor over long hours. We host a week-long in-person meetup each year (fully paid) to strengthen team bonds.

Ready to Engineer the Future?

If you are a licensed, ambitious structural engineer who wants to maximize impact and flexibility, we want to hear from you. This is a permanent, full-time remote position open to U.S. residents only. Please submit your resume, a cover letter detailing a project you’re proud of and why remote work suits you, and a copy of your PE license to careers@apexstructural.com.
