We are seeking a visionary Remote Software Engineer to lead the development of our core platform, a distributed system powering next-generation artificial intelligence applications. This is a fully remote, high-impact role where you will solve complex scalability challenges and build resilient systems used by millions, all from your home office. If you are passionate about clean architecture, performance at scale, and want to own your work schedule and environment, this is your opportunity.
Estimated Salary Range: $110,000 – $150,000 USD/year, based on experience, expertise in distributed systems, and proven impact in prior remote roles. Includes performance-based bonuses and equity.
About the Role
As a key engineer on our Platform Infrastructure team, you will design, build, and maintain the backbone of our AI deployment engine. You will work on everything from low-level data pipeline optimization to high-availability service orchestration in a cloud-native environment. This role is for someone who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys deep dives into system design, and can translate business needs into robust, scalable technical solutions.
Your Core Impact Will Include:
- Architecting and scaling microservices and event-driven systems to handle petabytes of data.
- Improving system reliability, observability, and performance metrics across our global infrastructure.
- Collaborating with ML engineers and product teams to integrate new AI model serving capabilities seamlessly.
- Mentoring other engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and documentation.
- Driving a culture of engineering excellence, automated testing, and continuous deployment.
Who You Are (Requirements)
We value skills and output over rigid credentials. You must have a proven track record of delivering complex software projects in a remote or distributed setting.
Essential Experience & Skills:
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 3 years focused on backend, distributed systems, or cloud infrastructure.
- Mastery of at least one major language (Go, Python, Java, Rust) and its ecosystem for building scalable services.
- Deep, hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Strong understanding of databases (SQL & NoSQL), messaging queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ), and API design (REST, gRPC).
- Expertise in CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation), and monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog).
- Exceptional written communication skills and a proactive, self-motivated work ethic for remote collaboration.
Nice-to-Have Attributes:
- Experience in AI/ML deployment, model serving, or data engineering pipelines.
- Contributions to open-source projects relevant to infrastructure or developer tools.
- Knowledge of security best practices in cloud environments and compliance frameworks (SOC2, GDPR).
The Remote Work Experience & Benefits
We believe talent is global and that great work happens where you feel most productive. We have built our entire company around asynchronous, trust-based remote work.
What We Provide:
- True Flexibility: Set your own hours. Work from your home, a co-working space, or while traveling. No core hours, just deliver results.
- Top-Tier Compensation: Competitive salary, meaningful equity, and an annual performance bonus. We pay in USD for consistency.
- Full Health & Wellness: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance for you and your family (US-based roles) or a generous stipend for international coverage.
- Growth & Learning: $3,000 annual professional development budget for courses, conferences, books, and certifications.
- Home Office Setup: $1,500 one-time stipend to build your perfect workspace plus a monthly stipend for high-speed internet.
- Team Connection: Fully remote doesn’t mean disconnected. We host quarterly virtual socials, an annual all-hands retreat (location varies), and have a vibrant Slack community.
- Unlimited PTO: Take the time you need with a flexible, manager-approved policy. We encourage a minimum of 3 weeks off.
- Parental Leave: Generous paid leave for all new parents.
Our Engineering Culture
We are a small, elite team that moves fast and values intellectual curiosity. We practice blameless post-mortems, invest in automated testing, and believe that simplicity and clear documentation are hallmarks of great engineering. You will have significant autonomy and direct input on technical direction. We are an equal-opportunity employer committed to building a diverse and inclusive environment where all voices are heard.
