<a href="https://wehired.agency/jobs/" style="color:var(--primary-color); font-weight:600;">Remote</a> Operations Research Analyst Job – Solve Complex Global Challenges

Are you a master of quantitative analysis with a passion for turning chaotic data into elegant, actionable strategies? We are seeking a brilliant Remote Operations Research Analyst to architect the optimization models that power our global supply chain and service networks. This is your chance to directly impact profitability and efficiency for a dynamic, data-driven company from the comfort of your home office.

About the Role

In this pivotal position, you will serve as the mathematical engine of our operations team. You will design, develop, and implement sophisticated algorithms and simulation models to solve intricate problems in resource allocation, routing, scheduling, and inventory management. Your work will provide the analytical backbone for executive decisions, driving millions in savings and service improvements. You will collaborate closely with engineering, product, and business leadership in a fully distributed team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate and solve complex optimization problems using linear/non-linear programming, integer programming, and heuristics.
  • Develop simulation models (e.g., discrete-event, Monte Carlo) to forecast system performance under uncertainty.
  • Analyze large datasets to identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for operational improvement.
  • Translate business requirements from stakeholders into precise mathematical models and technical specifications.
  • Build prototypes and proof-of-concepts using Python (PuLP, SciPy, Gurobi/CPLEX) or similar tools.
  • Present findings and recommendations to non-technical audiences through clear visualizations and reports.
  • Continuously monitor model performance and refine algorithms for real-world application.

Requirements & Qualifications

We are looking for a practitioner who blends deep theory with pragmatic execution.

Must-Have Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in an operations research, analytics, or quantitative modeling role.
  • Proven expertise with optimization solvers (Gurobi, CPLEX, OR-Tools) and programming (Python is essential, R or Julia a plus).
  • Strong command of statistical analysis, probability theory, and stochastic modeling.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and communicate complex concepts simply.
  • Excellent English communication skills for remote collaboration.

Nice-to-Have Attributes

  • Experience in logistics, transportation, e-commerce, or SaaS operations.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and big data tools (Spark, SQL).
  • Background in machine learning applications for predictive analytics.
  • History of publishing research or contributing to open-source OR projects.

Compensation & Benefits

We believe in rewarding exceptional talent generously and equitably.

Salary Range

The estimated salary range for this position is $90,000 – $130,000 USD/year, commensurate with experience, expertise, and location-independent compensation philosophy. Final offer will be based on a holistic review of your skills and background.
