About the Role

As a Health IT Specialist, you will serve as the bridge between clinical staff and technology vendors, ensuring that health information systems operate smoothly and securely. You’ll troubleshoot EHR issues, assist with system upgrades, and provide training to end‑users, all while maintaining compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor, maintain, and optimize electronic health record (EHR) platforms and related health IT applications.
• Respond to user tickets, diagnose technical problems, and implement timely resolutions.
• Collaborate with clinicians to gather requirements and translate them into functional system configurations.
• Assist in the planning and execution of system upgrades, patches, and migrations.
• Conduct user training sessions and create documentation to promote effective system use.
• Ensure data integrity, security, and privacy in accordance with HIPAA, HITECH, and state regulations.
• Generate reports and analytics to support quality improvement initiatives and regulatory reporting.
• Participate in vendor management, including contract reviews and service level monitoring.

Requirements

Must‑Have Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Computer Science, Nursing Informatics, or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience with EHR systems (Epic, Cerner, Meditech, or similar).
• Strong understanding of healthcare workflows, clinical documentation, and medical terminology.
• Proven troubleshooting skills and ability to prioritize multiple tickets in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent communication abilities—both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Knowledge of HIPAA privacy and security regulations.
• Reliable high‑speed internet connection and a dedicated home office setup.
