We are seeking a skilled Health IT Specialist to support the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of electronic health record (EHR) systems and related health information technologies. Working fully remote, you will collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to ensure data integrity, improve workflow efficiency, and drive innovation in patient care delivery. This role offers competitive compensation, flexible scheduling, and the opportunity to make a tangible impact on healthcare outcomes from the comfort of your home.

About the Role

As a Health IT Specialist, you will be the bridge between technology and patient care. You will assist in configuring EHR platforms, troubleshooting system issues, training end‑users, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA and Meaningful Use. Your day‑to‑day activities will involve analyzing workflows, recommending improvements, and supporting data migration projects that enhance the quality and accessibility of health information.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain EHR and ancillary health IT applications for remote clinics and hospitals.
  • Provide Tier‑2 technical support to clinicians, administrators, and IT staff, resolving issues promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct user training sessions and create documentation that facilitates smooth adoption of new features.
  • Monitor system performance, generate reports, and identify opportunities for process optimization.
  • Assist with data migration, interface testing, and integration of laboratory, pharmacy, and billing systems.
  • Ensure all activities adhere to HIPAA, GDPR (where applicable), and other healthcare data security standards.
  • Collaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders to evaluate upgrades, patches, and new technology solutions.
  • Participate in project planning, helping to define scope, timelines, and resource needs for health IT initiatives.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2‑3 years of hands‑on experience with major EHR platforms (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Meditech, Allscripts).
  • Strong understanding of healthcare workflows, clinical documentation, and regulatory requirements (HIPAA, HITECH).
  • Proficiency with Windows/Linux operating systems, SQL databases, and HL7/FHI R standards.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
  • Self‑motivated, organized, and comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CPHIMS, Epic Certification, CompTIA Healthcare IT Technician) are a plus.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range: $55,000 – $80,000 USD per year (based on experience and certifications).
  • Fully remote position – work from anywhere with a reliable internet connection.
  • Flexible hours with core collaboration windows to accommodate different time zones.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance plans.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match.
  • Paid time off, holidays, and parental leave.
  • Annual stipend for home office setup and ongoing internet reimbursement.
  • Access to continuous learning platforms, certification reimbursement, and professional development opportunities.
  • Wellness programs, virtual team‑building events, and an inclusive company culture focused on improving healthcare.
