About the Role

You are the quarterback for project success during the most dynamic and visible stage: commissioning. Moving beyond design and construction, you will lead the integration, testing, and startup of complex systems—from manufacturing plants and energy facilities to data centers and pharmaceutical plants. Working fully remote, you will manage a dispersed team of specialists, interface directly with clients, and serve as the ultimate authority on system performance and handover. Your mission is to transform blueprints into fully operational, safe, and efficient assets, solving unforeseen challenges in real-time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive commissioning plans, schedules, and budgets for multi-million dollar projects.
  • Lead and mentor a remote team of commissioning engineers, technicians, and specialists.
  • Conduct rigorous system testing, performance verification, and safety audits (HAZOP, LOPA).
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients and contractors during the commissioning phase.
  • Manage sub-contractor coordination, scope verification, and punch list resolution.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all safety protocols, regulatory codes (e.g., OSHA, NFPA, IEC), and quality standards.
  • Compile final commissioning reports, operational manuals, and training materials for client handover.
  • Travel up to 30% for critical site visits, major tests, and client meetings.

What You Bring (Requirements)

We seek a proven leader with a track record of taking complex systems from cold start to full production.

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in commissioning, start-up, or construction management within heavy industry (Oil & Gas, Power, Chemical, Pharma, Manufacturing).
  • At least 4 years of experience directly managing commissioning teams and projects.
  • Expert-level knowledge of commissioning procedures, system integration, and performance testing methodologies.
  • Mastery of industry-specific safety standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Exceptional remote communication skills: proficiency in video conferencing, collaborative platforms (MS Teams, Slack), and project management software (Primavera P6, MS Project).
  • PMP or PE license is a strong advantage.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range

$95,000 – $125,000 USD/year

Final offer is based on experience, technical expertise, and proven leadership in commissioning. A performance-based bonus structure is also available.
