As a Registered Nurse on our Medical/Surgical unit, you will be the primary coordinator of care for a diverse patient population with multi-system diagnoses. - Perform thorough initial and ongoing patient assessments, identifying subtle changes in condition and initiating appropriate interventions.
- Develop and execute evidence-based, holistic care plans in partnership with physicians, therapists, and the interdisciplinary team.
- Administer medications, blood products, and advanced therapies (including titrated IV drips) with precise documentation.
- Manage care for patients with complex comorbidities such as sepsis, respiratory failure, renal insufficiency, and post-operative complications.
- Lead patient and family education, ensuring clear understanding of diagnoses, treatments, and discharge planning.
- Actively participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives and safety huddles.
- Precept and mentor new graduate nurses and student interns, fostering the next generation of nurses.
What We Require: Your Qualifications
We are looking for a proactive, communicative nurse who excels in a challenging setting. Ideal candidates will bring:
- Active Illinois RN License (or eligible for licensure) in good standing with the State Board of Nursing.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of recent acute care Medical/Surgical nursing experience. High-acuity or step-down unit experience is highly valued.
- Current BLS certification is mandatory. ACLS certification is strongly preferred and required within 90 days of hire.
- Demonstrated proficiency with electronic health records (EPIC experience a plus).
- Exceptional assessment skills, clinical judgment, and the ability to prioritize in a rapidly changing environment.
