About the Role

As a Registered Nurse on our Medical/Surgical unit, you will be the cornerstone of patient care. You’ll assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans for patients admitted with a wide range of acute and complex medical and surgical conditions. This role demands clinical proficiency, critical thinking, and unwavering commitment to safety and quality. You will collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and a dedicated interdisciplinary team to deliver holistic, evidence-based care. Your observations and interventions will be vital in monitoring patient progress and facilitating smooth transitions of care.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately according to physician orders and established protocols.
• Monitor patient vital signs, laboratory results, and overall condition, reporting changes promptly and initiating appropriate interventions.
• Provide direct patient care, including wound care, IV therapy, and assistance with activities of daily living.
• Educate patients and families on post-discharge care, medication management, and disease processes.
• Maintain meticulous and accurate patient documentation in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate effectively within the healthcare team to ensure seamless, coordinated patient care.

Requirements

Education & Licensure

• Current, unrestricted Illinois Registered Nurse license.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.

Experience

• Minimum of 1 year of recent, progressive experience in Medical/Surgical nursing preferred.
• Experience with adult patients across the continuum of care.
• Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing electronic health records (EHR).
