About the Role
As a Registered Nurse on our Medical/Surgical unit, you will be the cornerstone of patient care. You’ll assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans for patients admitted with a wide range of acute and complex medical and surgical conditions. Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop, implement, and evaluate nursing care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately according to physician orders and established protocols.
- Monitor patient vital signs, laboratory results, and overall condition, reporting changes promptly and initiating appropriate interventions.
- Provide direct patient care, including wound care, IV therapy, and assistance with activities of daily living.
- Educate patients and families on post-discharge care, medication management, and disease processes.
- Maintain meticulous and accurate patient documentation in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate effectively within the healthcare team to ensure seamless, coordinated patient care.
Requirements
Education & Licensure
- Current, unrestricted Illinois Registered Nurse license.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of recent, progressive experience in Medical/Surgical nursing preferred.
- Experience with adult patients across the continuum of care.
- Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing electronic health records (EHR).
