About This Position
Job Summary
First Recruitment Group is seeking a Power System Studies Engineer for a 6‑12 month contract in Fetcham, Leatherhead, Surrey. This role offers a competitive salary of £114,400‑£135,200 and the chance to work on complex energy, infrastructure and government projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed power system studies, including load flow, short‑circuit, stability and protection coordination analyses.
- Support on‑shore projects by delivering engineering solutions for captive power generation and renewable integration.
- Prepare technical reports, design specifications and presentation materials for internal and client stakeholders.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliance with national grid codes and project requirements.
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in power system studies and captive power generation (conventional or renewable).
- Strong knowledge of IEC/BS standards, grid codes and protection schemes.
- Proficiency with industry software such as PSS®E, DigSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP or equivalent.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
- Relevant engineering degree (Electrical, Power or similar) and preferably a professional engineering registration.
