About the Role
As a Mechanical Designer, you will own the detailed design lifecycle from concept sketches to final manufacturing drawings. Your work directly impacts product reliability, cost efficiency, and sustainability goals. This position offers the freedom to work from any U.S. location while staying tightly integrated with a dynamic engineering team through daily video stand‑ups, shared PLM repositories, and real‑time design reviews.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and maintain 3D models, assemblies, and 2D drawings using SolidWorks and/or Autodesk Inventor.
- Perform tolerance stack‑up analysis, FEA validation, and design for manufacturability (DFM) checks.
- Collaborate with electrical, software, and industrial design teams to ensure seamless integration.
- Generate and manage BOMs, change orders, and revision control within the PLM system.
- Support prototype builds, test fixtures, and first‑article inspections remotely via live video feeds.
- Document design decisions, calculations, and test results for regulatory compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 4 years of professional mechanical design experience in consumer electronics, medical devices, or industrial equipment.
- Expert proficiency in SolidWorks (CSWP preferred) and/or Autodesk Inventor; familiarity with ANSYS or SolidWorks Simulation is a plus.
- Strong grasp of GD&T (ASME Y14.5), material selection, and manufacturing processes (CNC machining, injection molding, sheet metal).
- Proven ability to work autonomously in a distributed team environment with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency (required for export‑controlled projects).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with additive manufacturing design guidelines and lattice structures.
- Knowledge of PLM platforms such as Windchill, Teamcenter, or Arena.
- Certification in Six Sigma Green Belt or similar continuous‑improvement methodology.
- Portfolio showcasing complex assemblies, motion studies, and successful product launches.
Salary Range
$85,000 – $115,000 USD per year, commensurate with experience, location differentials, and performance bonuses. The range reflects current market data for senior‑level remote mechanical designers in the United States.
Benefits
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage (100 % employer‑paid for employee).
- 401(k) with 4 % company match and immediate vesting.
- Annual $2,500 professional development stipend for courses, certifications, or conferences.
