You are the conductor of the project’s symphony, transforming built assets into operational powerhouses. This remote Commissioning Manager role places you at the helm during the most dynamic and crucial phase: turning over a newly constructed facility or system to the client. Your mission is to ensure every component functions individually and as an integrated whole, meeting all design specifications, safety regulations, and performance guarantees. You will manage a virtual team of commissioning engineers and technicians, coordinate with construction, engineering, and client teams globally, and serve as the primary technical authority during system start-up and initial operation. This is not a desk job; it requires periodic travel (approx. 20-30%) to project sites for critical inspections, FAT/SAT witnessing, and hands-on troubleshooting during initial energization.

Core Responsibilities

• Develop and execute comprehensive commissioning plans, sequences, and procedures for electrical, mechanical, and control systems in power, oil & gas, or industrial sectors.
• Lead the pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up phases, managing punch list closure and performance testing against contractual guarantees.
• Ensure absolute adherence to all safety protocols (OSHA, client-specific) and environmental standards during all field activities.
• Serve as the key technical escalation point, diagnosing complex system issues and directing the team toward effective solutions.
• Manage subcontractors and vendor representatives during their scope of work, ensuring quality and schedule compliance.
• Produce detailed commissioning reports, turnover documentation, and lessons-learned summaries for client sign-off.
• Collaborate closely with Project Managers and Controls Engineers to integrate commissioning schedules into the master project plan.

We need an engineer with a track record of delivering safe, on-time, and on-budget commissioning for significant capital projects. You must be self-motivated, an excellent communicator, and comfortable making critical decisions in fast-paced environments.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Controls Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum 8 years of hands-on commissioning experience, with at least 4 years in a leadership or management capacity on projects valued over $50M.
• Technical Mastery: Deep expertise in power systems (substations, switchgear, protection relays), motor control, SCADA/DDC systems, and HVAC/process instrumentation. Proficiency with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or similar tools.
• Safety Certifications: Current OSHA 30-hour certification (or equivalent) is mandatory. CSP or similar safety leadership credential is a strong plus.
• Leadership: Proven ability to lead diverse, remote/virtual teams, manage subcontractors, and resolve conflicts. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client and stakeholder reporting.
• Travel: Willingness and ability to travel to project sites as required (20-30%).
