Tired of being tied to a desk or a single job site? Leverage your expert surveying skills in a fully remote role that puts you in control of your schedule and location. We’re seeking a meticulous Surveyor to interpret technical data, ensure boundary accuracy, and support landmark development projects from the comfort of your home office, with occasional local travel for site verification.

About the Role

In this pivotal remote position, you will transition from traditional field-only duties to a hybrid analytical and coordination role. You will become the central hub for spatial data integrity, transforming raw field measurements and satellite data into precise, actionable maps and legal descriptions. Your work ensures that everything from new residential communities to critical infrastructure is built on a foundation of perfect accuracy. This is not a pure field job; it is a remote-first, data-centric position for a surveyor who excels with technology and clear communication.

What You’ll Actually Do

  • Data Synthesis & Verification: Process GPS, GIS, LiDAR, and total station data collected by field teams to create detailed plat maps, boundary surveys, and topographic reports.
  • Legal Descriptions & Plats: Draft precise legal property descriptions and subdivision plats that meet county and state regulations.
  • Remote Collaboration: Serve as the primary technical contact for project managers, engineers, and clients, explaining complex survey findings clearly.
  • Quality Control: Perform rigorous checks on all deliverables for mathematical accuracy and compliance with professional standards.
  • Occasional Site Oversight: Travel locally (within a defined region) less than 10% of the time to assist with complex boundary disputes or to verify challenging field data.

Requirements: The Precision Professional We Need

We need a licensed or licensure-eligible surveyor who thrives in a digital environment. Your expertise is non-negotiable, but your adaptability is key.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field, OR equivalent years of professional experience.
  • Active Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in at least one U.S. state, or the ability to obtain one within 6 months (we support the process).
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in boundary, ALTA/NSPS, and topographic surveying.
  • Expert proficiency with survey software (e.g., Autodesk Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, Carlson SurvCE/SurvPC).
  • Mastery of GIS platforms (ArcGIS Pro, QGIS) for data integration and map production.
  • Deep understanding of the Public Land Survey System (PLSS), state-specific surveying standards, and boundary law principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for remote client and team interaction.

Preferred “Nice-to-Have” Skills

  • Experience with drone photogrammetry and point cloud processing.
  • Familiarity with construction surveying and staking processes.
  • Project management experience, including budgeting and scheduling for survey projects.

Compensation & Benefits: Value Your Expertise

Your precision has a price. We offer a highly competitive salary that reflects your licensed expertise and the critical nature of your work.

Salary Range

$65,000 – $90,000 USD/year (commensurate with license, experience, and regional market). This is a salaried exempt position. A performance-based bonus structure is available.

Why This Remote Role is a Game-Changer

  • True Location Freedom: Work from anywhere in the United States. Your home is your headquarters.
  • Advanced Tech Stack: We provide top-tier software licenses, a powerful laptop, and a stipend for home office setup.
  • Flexible PTO & Schedule: We measure output, not hours. Enjoy a generous, flexible paid time off policy.
  • Health & Wealth: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans. 401(k) with company match.
  • Professional Growth Fund: Annual stipend for continuing education, license renewals, and conference attendance.
  • Travel & Per Diem: All pre-approved local travel is covered with a generous per diem.
