Are you a fire protection specialist who thrives on solving complex safety challenges without leaving your home office? Our global engineering firm is expanding its virtual team and needs a talented Fire Engineer to design, analyze, and certify fire‑resistant solutions for high‑profile projects worldwide.

Salary Range

$80,000 – $110,000 USD per year (commensurate with experience, certifications, and proven performance). Bonus potential and profit‑sharing are available for top contributors.

About the Role

As a Remote Fire Engineer, you will be the technical backbone of our fire protection services, collaborating with architects, structural engineers, and clients across multiple time zones. Your day‑to‑day responsibilities include:

  • Performing fire risk assessments and developing mitigation strategies for commercial, industrial, and residential projects.
  • Creating detailed fire engineering calculations, fire‑stop designs, and egress analyses using industry‑standard software (e.g., FDS, Pathfinder, Revit, AutoCAD).
  • Preparing and reviewing construction documents, specifications, and compliance reports to meet NFPA, IBC, and local code requirements.
  • Conducting virtual peer reviews, providing technical guidance to junior engineers, and mentoring remote interns.
  • Participating in virtual client meetings, presenting design concepts, and addressing stakeholder questions in real time.

Why This Position Is 100% Remote

Our firm operates on a cloud‑first platform, giving you access to all necessary tools, data, and collaboration spaces from any internet‑connected location. We provide a home‑office stipend, ergonomic equipment, and a robust VPN to ensure secure, high‑performance work.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility to obtain one within 12 months.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands‑on fire engineering experience on large‑scale projects.
  • Proficiency with fire modeling software (e.g., FDS, PyroSim) and BIM tools (Revit, Navisworks).
  • Strong understanding of NFPA 101, NFPA 13, IBC, and International Fire Code.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
  • Self‑motivated, disciplined, and comfortable managing multiple deadlines in a fully virtual environment.

Preferred Extras

  • Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) or similar credential.
  • Experience with performance‑based design and fire dynamics simulations.
  • Background in sustainability or green building certifications (LEED, WELL).
  • Fluency in a second language to support international client bases.

Benefits & Perks

  • Fully remote work – no commuting, no relocation stress.
  • Flexible schedule with core hours to accommodate global collaboration.
  • Home‑office allowance (up to $1,500) for furniture, monitors, and accessories.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance for you and eligible dependents.
  • 401(k) plan with company match up to 5%.
  • Generous paid time off (25 days) plus paid holidays.
  • Professional development budget for certifications, conferences, and online courses.
  • Annual virtual team retreat and quarterly “innovation hackathons.”

Culture & Growth Opportunities

Our remote‑first culture values autonomy, continuous learning, and inclusive collaboration. You’ll join a diverse team of engineers, architects, and safety consultants who share a passion for protecting lives and property. Career pathways include senior technical leadership, project management, and specialty consulting roles.

How to Stand Out

When submitting your application, include a concise portfolio that showcases at least two fire engineering projects—highlight your calculations, design decisions, and outcomes. A brief video (60‑90 seconds) introducing yourself and explaining why remote fire engineering excites you can give you a competitive edge.
