About the Role

As a Remote Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, you will deliver evidence‑based psychiatric services via secure video conferencing and electronic health records. You will manage a diverse caseload that includes adults, adolescents, and geriatric patients experiencing anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and co‑occurring substance use issues. The position offers autonomy in clinical decision‑making supported by robust clinical guidelines, regular peer consultation, and access to continuing education resources.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Assessment & Diagnosis

• Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including mental status exams, risk assessments, and psychosocial histories.
• Utilize standardized screening tools to identify symptom severity and functional impairment.
• Formulate accurate DSM‑5‑TR diagnoses and develop individualized treatment plans.

Treatment Planning & Medication Management

• Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications, adjusting dosages based on efficacy and side‑effect profiles.
• Integrate psychotherapy techniques such as CBT, DBT, and motivational interviewing into care plans.
• Coordinate with primary care providers, therapists, and social services to ensure holistic care.

Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain timely, accurate, and confidential electronic health records in accordance with HIPAA and state regulations.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, chart audits, and peer review processes.
• Stay current with state prescribing laws, telehealth regulations, and best practices in psychiatric nursing.

Requirements

Education & Licensure

• Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatric‑Mental Health.
• Active, unrestricted RN license in the state of Texas.
• Current Psychiatric‑Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP‑BC) certification from ANCC or equivalent.
• DEA registration and authority to prescribe controlled substances in Texas.

Experience & Skills

• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a PMHNP in outpatient, inpatient, or telehealth settings.
• Proficiency with telehealth platforms (e.g., Zoom for Healthcare, Doxy.me) and EHR systems (Epic, Cerner, or similar).
• Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build rapport virtually.
