About the Role

As a Remote Datacenter Technician, you will be the guardian of our clients’ IT infrastructure. Your primary responsibility is the proactive monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of data center hardware and systems. This includes servers, storage arrays, networking equipment (routers, switches, firewalls), power distribution units (PDUs), and environmental controls (CRAC units, UPS systems). You will ensure optimal performance, implement security protocols, manage physical access, and perform necessary hardware upgrades and repairs. Your vigilance ensures business continuity for our clients, making you an indispensable asset to their technological ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage server health, performance, and security remotely.
  • Perform routine maintenance, hardware upgrades, and troubleshooting on servers, storage, and networking equipment.
  • Configure, deploy, and maintain virtualization platforms and cloud services.
  • Implement and manage security measures including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and access controls.
  • Conduct physical and logical security audits within the data center environment.
  • Coordinate with on-site personnel for complex hardware installations or emergency responses.
  • Document all maintenance activities, configurations, and incidents thoroughly.
  • Collaborate with network engineers and system administrators to ensure seamless integration.

Requirements

Success in this role requires a blend of technical prowess, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a remote, results-driven environment. Proven experience in managing enterprise-grade data center equipment is essential.

Essential Qualifications

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience working with enterprise servers (e.g., Dell PowerEdge, HPE ProLiant), storage arrays (e.g., Dell EMC, HPE), and networking equipment (e.g., Cisco, Juniper).
  • Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V, KVM) and cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Knowledge of data center power systems (UPS, PDUs) and cooling infrastructure (CRAC, CRAH, IT room cooling).
  • Understanding of TCP/IP networking, DNS, DHCP, and basic network security principles.
  • Proficiency with remote monitoring and management tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to document procedures clearly.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
