About the Role

As a Remote Electrical Designer, you will be integral to our project delivery team. You will translate architectural and engineering concepts into detailed, constructible electrical designs using industry-leading software. This is not a siloed drafting role; you will collaborate with project managers, mechanical designers, and clients to solve complex problems and ensure designs meet all technical codes, budget constraints, and sustainability goals. Your work will power schools, hospitals, data centers, and corporate facilities.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive electrical plans, single-line diagrams, and panel schedules using AutoCAD and Revit.
• Perform load calculations, short circuit analysis, and voltage drop studies.
• Design interior and exterior lighting systems, including fixture selection and lighting control layouts.
• Create specifications and coordinate with other disciplines (HVAC, plumbing, structural) to avoid conflicts.
• Review contractor submittals and provide construction support via virtual site walks and RFI responses.
• Stay current with NEC, NFPA 70E, and local code amendments.

Requirements

We are looking for a proactive professional who thrives in a remote setting and possesses a strong foundation in electrical design principles.

Must-Have Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
• 3+ years of professional experience in electrical design for commercial, industrial, or institutional buildings.
• Expert proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit MEP. Experience with BIM 360/ACC is a plus.
• Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear remote collaboration.
• Self-motivated with exceptional time-management and the ability to work independently.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with SKM PowerTools, ETAP, or similar analysis software.
• Background in sustainable design (LEED, Zero Energy) or critical facilities.
• Familiarity with specification writing software (e.g., MasterSpec).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range

The estimated base salary range for this role is $75,000 – $105,000 USD annually, commensurate with experience, technical proficiency, and professional certifications. Final offers are based on geographic location within the US and individual qualifications.
