Role Overview
Beca Limited is looking for an experienced Environmental Advisory Manager to lead its national Environmental Advisory team from Christchurch. This full‑time position offers the chance to shape strategic direction, grow a high‑performing team and deliver sustainable outcomes for clients, communities and future generations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and vision for the Environmental Advisory practice across New Zealand.
- Develop, mentor and expand a connected, high‑performing team of consultants and specialists in multiple regions.
- Identify market trends and client needs, translating them into innovative service offerings.
- Oversee delivery of complex environmental assessments, impact studies and compliance projects.
- Maintain strong relationships with regulatory bodies, iwi, local authorities and industry stakeholders.
- Drive business development initiatives, prepare proposals and manage client contracts.
- Ensure all work meets Beca’s quality standards, health & safety policies and sustainability commitments.
- Report on performance metrics, financial targets and resource planning to senior leadership.
Essential Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualification in environmental science, engineering, planning or a related discipline.
- Minimum 7‑10 years of experience in environmental consultancy, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership or management role.
- Strong understanding of New Zealand environmental legislation, resource consent processes and sustainability frameworks.
- Proven ability to lead, coach and develop multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Demonstrated business development success and ability to grow client relationships.
- Professional registration (e.g., Chartered Environmentalist) is an advantage.
