About the Role

As a Remote Background Investigator, you will be on the front line of risk mitigation, verifying histories and uncovering facts for employment, vendor, and investment screenings. You will manage a full caseload of investigations, utilizing cutting-edge databases, public records, and your sharp interviewing skills to compile accurate, compliant, and thorough reports. Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive background checks including criminal history, education/employment verification, credit checks, and reference interviews.
• Navigate and leverage various online databases, court repositories, and county clerk systems.
• Interview subjects and references via phone to clarify information and gather insights.
• Analyze and synthesize complex information from disparate sources into clear, objective, and legally defensible investigative reports.
• Maintain strict adherence to the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and all other relevant regulations.
• Manage your own workflow and meet strict deadlines in a results-oriented remote environment.

Essential Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional experience in background investigation, due diligence, or a related investigative field (law enforcement, military intelligence, or legal research considered).
• Proven expertise in conducting criminal record searches, employment/education verification, and professional reference interviews.
• Demonstrated proficiency with proprietary investigative databases (e.g., TLO, Accurint, LexisNexis) and public records research.
• Strong working knowledge of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and other compliance standards.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for report writing and professional interviews.
• Unwavering personal integrity, ethical judgment, and the ability to handle sensitive, confidential information.

Preferred Attributes

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range
