About the Role & Our Mission

This is not a typical engineering role; it is a pure research position where your primary output is new knowledge, validated through rigorous experimentation and peer-reviewed publication. You will have the autonomy to pursue high-impact research questions in areas such as deep learning, reinforcement learning, generative AI, or multi-modal systems, with the resources and collaboration to turn theory into tangible prototypes.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct original, high-quality research in artificial intelligence, formulating hypotheses and designing experiments to validate them.
• Develop and implement novel machine learning models and algorithms, pushing the boundaries of current state-of-the-art.
• Write research papers for top-tier academic conferences (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, etc.) and journals.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to explore the practical applications and scalability of your research findings.
• Contribute to the internal knowledge base, mentor junior researchers, and represent the company at global research events.

Must-Have Skills & Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field, OR an exceptional Master’s with proven research output.
• Proven track record of first-author publications at leading AI/ML conferences or journals.
• Expert-level proficiency in Python and major ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow/JAX).
• Deep understanding of core ML concepts, from classical algorithms to modern deep learning architectures.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills, mathematical intuition, and the ability to work with ambiguous, open-ended problems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to explain complex ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Experience

• Postdoctoral research experience or industry research lab experience.
• Experience with large-scale distributed training and infrastructure.
• Familiarity with formal methods, causal inference, or cognitive science principles.
• A history of open-source contributions to major ML projects or libraries.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range

$120,000 – $180,000 USD/year
Final compensation will be determined based on experience, expertise, and the impact you’ve demonstrated in your research career. This role also includes a significant performance-based bonus and an equity grant, offering true ownership in our mission.
