About the Role

The Senior Project Engineer acts as the technical lead on assigned projects, coordinating design, permitting, and construction phases. You will partner with project managers, clients, and regulatory agencies to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop project plans, scope documents, and detailed schedules using industry‑standard software (MS Project, Primavera P6).
  • Oversee multidisciplinary design teams, ensuring deliverables meet client specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and review engineering calculations, drawings, and technical reports.
  • Manage project budgets, track expenditures, and forecast financial performance.
  • Conduct site visits (when required) and coordinate with contractors to resolve construction issues.
  • Facilitate progress meetings, prepare status reports, and communicate risks and mitigation strategies to stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to foster team development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field (PE license preferred).
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in project engineering for infrastructure or construction projects.
  • Proven track record of managing projects valued at $5M+ from design through close‑out.
  • Proficiency with project management tools (MS Project, Primavera, or similar) and engineering design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit).
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local permitting processes.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PE licensure in one or more states.
  • Experience with public‑private partnership (P3) projects.
  • Knowledge of sustainable design practices and LEED accreditation.
  • Familiarity with BIM workflows and clash detection tools.
  • Background in water/wastewater, transportation, or municipal utilities.
