About the Role

As a Remote Substance Abuse Counselor, you will be a cornerstone of our telehealth treatment program. You will manage a caseload of clients via secure video conferencing, conducting initial assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and providing ongoing individual and group counseling. Your day-to-day will involve collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of medical professionals and peer support specialists, all while maintaining meticulous clinical documentation in our electronic health record (EHR) system. This role requires a quiet, private, and professional home workspace that meets telehealth compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and substance use evaluations via telehealth.
• Develop and implement effective, client-centered treatment plans with measurable goals.
• Provide evidence-based individual, family, and group counseling sessions (e.g., CBT, MI, DBT).
• Perform regular case management, including coordination with external providers and community resources.
• Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical notes and treatment updates.
• Participate in weekly team meetings, supervision sessions, and training to ensure best practices.
• Uphold all ethical standards and client confidentiality in a virtual environment.

Requirements

We are looking for a dedicated professional who meets the following criteria to join our remote clinical team:

Mandatory Qualifications

• Master’s degree (MSW, MA, M.S.) in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
• Active, unrestricted licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or equivalent state license in at least one U.S. state. (Please specify your licensed state(s) in your application).
• Minimum of 2 years of post-graduate, paid experience providing direct clinical substance abuse or addiction counseling.
• Proven experience with telehealth platforms and delivering effective virtual therapy.
• Strong knowledge of DSM-5, ASAM criteria, and evidence-based addiction treatment modalities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build rapport remotely.
• Reliable high-speed internet, a dedicated quiet workspace, and a computer meeting our technical specifications.

Preferred Attributes

• Certification as a Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC) or similar.
• Experience with specific populations (e.g., co-occurring disorders, adolescents, veterans).
• Familiarity with our EHR system (e.g., SimplePractice, TherapyNotes) or similar.
• Bilingual or multilingual capabilities.

Compensation & Benefits

We believe in compensating our clinicians fairly for their vital work. This is a full-time, exempt position.

Salary Range

The estimated salary range for this position is $48,000 – $68,000 USD annually, commensurate with experience, licensure, and geographic location differentials. Compensation is reviewed annually.
