Remote Software Developer Job – Build Scalable Fintech Solutions with Python & AWS

We are a venture-backed fintech startup on a mission to democratize institutional-grade trading tools for everyday investors. As a Remote Software Developer, you will architect and build the core backend services powering our next-generation platform. This is a high-impact role where your code directly shapes our product’s reliability, security, and user experience, all from the comfort of your home office.

About the Role

You will be a key contributor to our agile engineering team, focusing on backend development, data pipeline integrity, and system scalability. You’ll take ownership of features from design and development through deployment and monitoring. Our stack is modern and cloud-native, built for performance and growth. You will collaborate closely with product managers and data scientists in a fully distributed team, with core collaboration hours overlapping with the US Eastern Time Zone.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable microservices and APIs using Python.
• Implement and manage infrastructure-as-code on AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, EventBridge).
• Build and optimize high-throughput, low-latency data processing pipelines for real-time market data.
• Ensure system security, reliability, and performance through rigorous testing, logging, and monitoring (CloudWatch, Datadog).
• Participate in code reviews, contribute to architectural discussions, and mentor junior engineers.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.

Requirements

We are looking for a proactive problem-solver with a strong foundation in software engineering principles and a passion for building systems that matter.

Must-Have Skills & Experience

• 4+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 2 years focused on backend systems.
• Expert proficiency in Python and at least one other major language (Go, Java, or Node.js).
• Proven experience with AWS services and infrastructure management.
• Strong understanding of relational and non-relational databases (PostgreSQL, Redis).
• Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes or ECS).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently in a remote setting.
• Eligibility to work in the United States (we cannot sponsor visas at this time).

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Direct experience in fintech, trading, or high-frequency data systems.
• Knowledge of financial protocols (FIX) or market data feeds.
• Experience with event-driven architectures and message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Contributions to open-source projects.

Compensation & Benefits

We believe in compensating our team exceptionally well for the value they create. This is a full-time, exempt position.

Salary Range

The base salary range for this role is $110,000 – $160,000 USD per year, determined by your experience, expertise, and impact. Final offers will be within this range and may include a significant performance-based equity grant and an annual bonus.
