We are seeking a visionary Senior Electrical Engineer to spearhead groundbreaking projects in power distribution, renewable integration, and smart grid technology. This is a fully remote opportunity for a seasoned professional to drive technical excellence, mentor emerging talent, and deliver solutions that redefine industry standards, all from your home office.

About the Role

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will own the full lifecycle of complex electrical systems, from initial concept and feasibility studies through detailed design, simulation, and commissioning support. You will serve as the technical authority on your projects, guiding cross-functional teams and ensuring designs meet rigorous safety, efficiency, and regulatory codes (NEC, IEEE, IEC). Your expertise will directly influence our strategic direction in sustainable energy and grid modernization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the electrical design for medium-voltage (MV) and high-voltage (HV) substations, distribution systems, and industrial power facilities.
  • Develop and review single-line diagrams, protection coordination studies, grounding layouts, and cable schedules using industry-standard software (ETAP, SKM, AutoCAD Electrical).
  • Perform short-circuit, arc flash, and load flow analyses to validate system safety and reliability.
  • Mentor and provide technical leadership to a team of mid-level and junior engineers and designers.
  • Collaborate with project managers, clients, and field teams to ensure seamless design implementation and problem-solving.
  • Contribute to pre-sales engineering efforts, including proposal writing and technical presentations.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies in renewables, energy storage, and grid digitalization to inform future project scopes.

Requirements & Qualifications

We are looking for a proven leader with a deep technical foundation and a passion for innovation.

Mandatory Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE/MSEE) from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in any U.S. state is strongly preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in electrical power system design, analysis, and project management within utility, industrial, or renewable energy sectors.
  • Expert-level proficiency with power system analysis software (ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or similar).
  • Mastery of NEC, IEEE, and IEC standards, with proven experience in protection coordination and arc flash studies.
  • Demonstrated history of leading engineering teams and serving as a final design reviewer.
  • Excellent communication skills for remote collaboration with clients and internal teams.

Preferred Attributes

  • Direct experience with battery energy storage system (BESS) integration or large-scale solar farm design.
  • Familiarity with SCADA/EMS systems and communication protocols (DNP3, Modbus, IEC 61850).
  • Background in substation physical design or GIS knowledge.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent project workflows in a remote setting.

Compensation & Benefits

We offer a highly competitive compensation package that recognizes senior-level expertise and impact.

Salary Range

$120,000 – $165,000 USD/year
Final offer will be determined based on experience, technical specialization, and geographic market factors. This role is classified as exempt.

Comprehensive Benefits Package

  • True Remote Flexibility: Work from anywhere in the United States. We provide a home office stipend to optimize your workspace.
  • Health & Wellness: 100% premium coverage for medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees. Robust mental health support and HSA/FSA options.
  • Financial Security: 401(k) plan with a generous company match, plus a discretionary annual bonus based on company and individual performance.
  • Time Off: Generous PTO accrual, plus 12 company holidays and 3 floating holidays per year.
  • Professional Growth: Annual $3,000 stipend for conferences, certifications (including PE renewal), and continuing education. Dedicated career development paths.

You will be a central pillar of our engineering department, with a direct line to leadership and the autonomy to solve problems your way. We are committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace where your unique perspective is a catalyst for innovation. If you are ready to leave behind the commute and take ownership of projects that power communities, we want to hear from you.
