About the Role

As a Remote Substance Abuse Counselor, you will be at the forefront of our mission to provide accessible, high-quality addiction treatment. You will manage a full caseload of clients via secure video conferencing, conducting comprehensive assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and facilitating evidence-based therapy sessions. Your role is pivotal in guiding clients through the challenges of substance use disorders, offering crisis intervention, and coordinating with external care teams to ensure holistic support. You will become a trusted part of a client’s support system, helping them build coping strategies and achieve sustainable recovery milestones, all through a virtual medium.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct biopsychosocial assessments and diagnostic evaluations for substance use disorders.
• Develop and implement personalized, evidence-based treatment plans ( utilizing CBT, MI, DBT, etc.).
• Provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions via HIPAA-compliant telehealth platforms.
• Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in our electronic health record (EHR) system.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, case managers, and community resources to coordinate client care.
• Adhere to all ethical guidelines, state regulations, and agency protocols for telehealth service delivery.
• Participate in regular clinical supervision, team meetings, and required training.

Requirements

We are looking for a clinician who combines deep empathy with sharp clinical skills and the ability to build rapport in a virtual setting. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, tech-savvy, and deeply committed to the recovery model.

Mandatory Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted license as an LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, or equivalent (LPC, LMHC) in at least one U.S. state. Please specify your licensed state(s) in your application.
• Minimum of 2 years of post-licensure experience providing direct clinical counseling for substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions.
• Proven experience and comfort with telehealth/telemedicine platforms and conducting therapy remotely.
• Strong understanding of ASAM criteria, DSM-5, and evidence-based practices for addiction treatment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey empathy and clarity digitally.
• Reliable high-speed internet, a private and professional home workspace, and a computer with a webcam/microphone.
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background check.

Preferred Attributes

• Experience with specific EHR systems like Athenahealth, SimplePractice, or Epic.
• Certifications such as CADC, CSAC, or equivalent.
• Bilingual or multilingual capabilities.
• Experience with diverse client populations, including adolescents, adults, or justice-involved individuals.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range

$50,000 – $75,000 USD per year, commensurate with experience, license type, and caseload. Compensation is based on a combination of billable hours and productivity, with opportunities for bonus potential.
