Imagine designing the bridges, water systems, and sustainable communities of the future without ever leaving your home. This is your chance to leverage your PE license and decade-plus of experience for a groundbreaking remote role with a top-tier engineering firm, where your expertise directly impacts critical national projects with complete location freedom.

About the Role

We are seeking a visionary and licensed Senior Civil Engineer to lead the design and analysis phase for high-profile infrastructure projects across the United States. In this fully remote position, you will own complex civil engineering deliverables—from initial feasibility studies and hydraulic modeling to detailed construction plans and specifications—for public and private sector clients. You will collaborate with a dispersed team of project managers, environmental specialists, and junior engineers via advanced digital platforms, ensuring every design meets rigorous safety, regulatory (including ADA and local jurisdiction codes), and sustainability standards. This isn’t just a remote job; it’s a career-defining opportunity to contribute to legacy projects from the comfort of your own workspace.

Your Core Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Leading the civil engineering design for site development, stormwater management, utility systems, and transportation infrastructure.
  • Performing and reviewing complex hydraulic and hydrologic (H&H) analyses using software like HEC-RAS, EPA SWMM, or similar.
  • Preparing and sealing technical reports, permit applications, and construction plans in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Mentoring and providing technical guidance to mid-level and junior engineers within the project team.
  • Acting as the primary client technical contact for assigned project phases, presenting designs and solutions.
  • Managing project timelines, budgets, and quality control for your discipline’s scope.

Who You Are: Requirements

We need a proactive, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a remote, autonomous environment. The ideal candidate is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with a proven track record.

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in good standing (any U.S. state is acceptable; ability to obtain additional state licenses as needed is a plus).
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive civil engineering design experience, with at least 4 years in a lead or senior role.
  • Expert proficiency in civil design software: AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley OpenRoads, or similar; experience with GIS tools.
  • Deep, hands-on experience with relevant design manuals (e.g., AASHTO, state DOT specs, local stormwater manuals).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for virtual collaboration.

Highly Desired (Nice-to-Have) Skills:

  • Experience with BIM (Building Information Modeling) processes for infrastructure (e.g., using Autodesk InfraWorks, Revit).
  • Background in sustainable design, LEED certification, or Low Impact Development (LID) strategies.
  • Familiarity with utility coordination and right-of-way engineering.
  • Prior experience working in a fully distributed/remote engineering team.

Compensation & Benefits

This is a senior-level, exempt position with a highly competitive compensation package that reflects your expertise and the value you bring.

Salary Range

The base salary range for this position is $110,000 – $155,000 USD annually, commensurate with experience, technical specialization, and licensure. Final offer will be determined based on qualifications and location-independent market rates.
