Recent Activity
Take command of a vibrant downtown Chicago restaurant’s operations and people. This Assistant General Manager role is not a support position—it is the primary training ground for our next General Manager. You will run the floor, manage the budget, and mentor the team with significant autonomy, directly impacting our guests’ experience and our bottom line.
About the Role: Lead, Learn, and Own It
We are searching for a driven, operations-focused leader to champion our Chicago flagship location. You will be the right hand to the General Manager, but the left hand will be fully engaged in daily execution. This is a hands-on role where you will be the leader on the floor during peak services, responsible for everything from seamless service flow to immediate problem resolution. You will transition from supervising shifts to owning the operational calendar, budgeting for your department, and implementing systems that drive efficiency and profit.
Your Core Responsibilities:
- Operational Command: Directly manage all front-of-house and back-of-house operations during assigned shifts, ensuring flawless execution of service standards, safety protocols, and sanitation.
- Financial Acumen: Assist in managing the P&L for the location. Control labor costs, food & beverage costs, and supplies. Conduct daily cash reconciliations and weekly inventory counts with precision.
- Team Leadership & Development: Lead pre-shift meetings, coach servers and kitchen staff in real-time, and conduct formal performance reviews. You will identify, onboard, and train new talent, building a bench of future leaders.
- Guest Experience Architect: Resolve complex guest issues personally and promptly. Use guest feedback and sales data to recommend menu or service improvements to enhance satisfaction and repeat business.
- Inventory & Supply Chain: Oversee ordering, receiving, and storage of all inventory. Implement systems to minimize waste and ensure optimal stock levels.
What You Bring: The AGM Profile
We need a natural leader with a sharp mind for business and a passion for hospitality. You are not afraid to jump on the expo line during a rush or mentor a host on upselling techniques.
Required Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of progressive restaurant management experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or assistant manager role.
- Demonstrated experience with budgeting, P&L management, and inventory control.
- Proven ability to lead a diverse team of 30+ employees in a high-volume, fast-paced environment (150+ covers).
- Strong knowledge of restaurant POS systems (like Toast or Upserve) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- ServSafe Manager Certification or equivalent is mandatory.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
