Join a forward‑thinking engineering team where your circuit designs power innovative projects across industries. Work fully remote, collaborate with global experts, and see your schematics come to life in real‑world applications—all while enjoying a competitive salary and flexible lifestyle.

About the Role

As a Remote Electrical Designer, you will create detailed electrical schematics, layout plans, and technical documentation for a variety of power distribution, control, and automation systems. You’ll partner with project managers, field engineers, and clients to ensure designs meet safety standards, performance goals, and budget constraints. This position offers the autonomy to manage your workload from any location while contributing to high‑impact projects that drive sustainable energy solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop single‑line diagrams, wiring layouts, and panel designs using AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar CAD tools.
  • Perform load calculations, short‑circuit analyses, and voltage drop studies to validate design integrity.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate electrical systems with mechanical, civil, and software components.
  • Prepare bills of materials, specification sheets, and installation instructions for manufacturing and field teams.
  • Review vendor submittals, conduct design reviews, and ensure compliance with NEC, IEC, and local codes.
  • Support troubleshooting efforts during commissioning and provide technical guidance to installation crews.

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in electrical design for power distribution, industrial controls, or renewable energy systems.
  • Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar) and familiarity with simulation tools (ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or DIgSILENT).

Technical Skills

  • Strong grasp of electrical theory, circuit protection, and power quality principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret single‑line diagrams, schematics, and layout drawings.
  • Knowledge of industry standards such as NEC, IEC 60364, IEEE, and UL.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Soft Skills

  • Effective communicator who can convey technical concepts to both engineering and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Self‑motivated, proactive, and comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
  • Team‑oriented mindset with a willingness to mentor junior designers and share best practices.

Salary Range

Based on industry data for remote electrical design roles in the United States, the expected compensation is $68,000 – $95,000 USD per year, commensurate with experience, certifications, and the complexity of projects assigned.

Benefits

  • Fully remote work – set up your home office wherever you thrive.
  • Flexible hours with core collaboration windows to accommodate different time zones.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision plans.
  • 401(k) with company matching.
  • Annual professional development budget for certifications, courses, and conferences.
  • Paid time off, parental leave, and wellness programs.
  • Access to cutting‑edge design software and cloud‑based collaboration platforms.
  • Opportunities to work on diverse projects ranging from commercial buildings to utility‑scale solar farms.
