If you are passionate about transforming blueprints into tangible community assets and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting, this is your opportunity to make a lasting mark.
About the Role
As a key member of our Project Delivery Team, you will be involved in the full lifecycle of diverse civil engineering projects, including site development, transportation systems, stormwater management, and utility infrastructure. Your primary responsibility will be to produce accurate, code-compliant designs using advanced software, conduct site investigations, and collaborate with architects, contractors, and municipal agencies to ensure seamless project execution.
This role demands a blend of technical precision and creative problem-solving. You will translate client visions into constructible plans, manage project timelines and budgets, and ensure all work meets the highest standards of safety, sustainability, and regulatory compliance. From initial feasibility studies to final construction observation, your contributions will directly influence the growth and resilience of the Austin metropolitan area.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and draft civil engineering plans for land development, roadways, drainage, and water/wastewater systems using AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Bentley Systems.
- Perform hydraulic and hydrologic analyses, grading calculations, and erosion control planning.
- Prepare technical reports, permit applications (including those for the City of Austin and TCEQ), and cost estimates.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress, verify compliance with plans, and provide technical support to contractors.
- Collaborate effectively with landscape architects, structural engineers, and environmental consultants on integrated project teams.
- Stay current with evolving building codes, environmental regulations, and industry best practices in sustainable design.
Requirements
We are looking for a candidate with a strong foundation in civil engineering principles and a proactive attitude. The ideal applicant will be a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) actively working toward licensure.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program. Master’s degree (M.S.) is a plus.
- Licensure: Current Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas is highly desirable. Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 4-6 years of progressive experience in a consulting engineering firm, with a proven portfolio of site development and municipal infrastructure projects.
- Technical Skills: Expert proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D. Experience with BIM (Revit), GIS, and stormwater modeling software (e.g., HydroCAD, HEC-RAS) is essential. Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools.
- Knowledge: In-depth understanding of Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) standards, local municipal codes (especially Austin Land Development Code), and federal/state environmental regulations.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, mentor junior staff, and build strong client relationships.
