About the Opportunity

This is more than just a systems management role—it is a strategic leadership position within a fully distributed company. As our IT Manager, you will be responsible for building and executing the technology roadmap, managing a budget of $500k+, and mentoring a growing team of IT engineers.

We are looking for a proactive problem-solver who can transition us from “good” to “great” in terms of scalability, security, and employee experience. You will report directly to the CTO and have a seat at the table for key business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic IT Leadership

  • Develop and implement the long-term technology strategy aligned with company growth goals.
  • Own the IT budget, negotiate vendor contracts, and optimize SaaS spend.
  • Establish KPIs for system uptime, incident response, and employee satisfaction.

Remote Infrastructure & Security

  • Oversee the full SaaS stack: Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, Jira, and Notion.
  • Manage MDM solutions (Jamf, Kandji, Intune) for a fleet of 200+ devices.
  • Implement and maintain Zero Trust security models, endpoint protection, and VPN infrastructure.
  • Lead SOC 2 Type II compliance efforts and data privacy initiatives.

Team & Culture

  • Mentor a team of 3 IT support engineers, fostering a culture of documentation and automation.
  • Create async-first onboarding workflows that delight new hires from day one.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues.

What We Are Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in IT management, with at least 2 years in a fully remote or hybrid environment.
  • Deep expertise in cloud-based MDM and SaaS administration (Google Workspace, Slack, Okta, Jira).
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts: DNS, TCP/IP, VPN, and SD-WAN.
  • Proven experience managing a P&L or technology budget.
  • Excellent communication skills—able to explain complex technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
  • A self-starter mentality with a passion for automating repetitive tasks.

Preferred Qualifications (Bonus Points)

  • Experience with scripting languages: Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Previous experience at a remote-first or distributed company (50+ employees).
  • Industry certifications: CISSP, ITIL, PMP, or AWS Solutions Architect.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR).

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $95,000 – $130,000 USD/year (commensurate with experience).

Your Day-to-Day

  • Weekly: 1:1s with your direct reports, focusing on career growth and removing blockers.
