About the Role

As a Datacenter Technician at GlobalTech Solutions in Austin, you will be essential to the smooth functioning of our state-of-the-art facilities. You’ll work directly on-site within our Austin data center, performing hands-on technical tasks to support and maintain complex IT infrastructure. Your primary focus will be ensuring the physical and environmental integrity of our servers, networking equipment, and storage systems, guaranteeing maximum uptime and performance for our clients’ vital applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine and preventative maintenance on servers, storage arrays, network switches, and other datacenter hardware.
• Install, configure, troubleshoot, and repair hardware components (RAM, CPUs, power supplies, fans, etc.) and software systems within the datacenter.
• Monitor datacenter environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, air flow) and respond to alerts or alarms promptly.
• Assist with cabling, rack management, and cable organization within the datacenter environment.
• Perform physical security checks and ensure adherence to datacenter access protocols.
• Collaborate with IT support teams and network engineers to resolve hardware-related issues impacting system availability.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
• Proven experience (2+ years) working directly with server hardware (e.g., Dell, HPE, Cisco) in a datacenter or server room environment.
• Strong understanding of datacenter power distribution (UPS, PDUs), cooling systems (CRAC/CRAH units), and fire suppression systems (FM-200, Novec).
• Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs regularly.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for potential on-site support across our Austin metro area.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work efficiently under pressure.

Desired Qualifications

• Certification in CompTIA A+, Network+, or Server+.
• Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V).
• Understanding of basic networking protocols (TCP/IP, VLANs, subnetting).
• Previous experience working within a 24x7x365 operational environment.
