Join a forward‑thinking engineering team that delivers cutting‑edge electrical solutions from anywhere in the United States. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you’ll lead high‑impact projects, mentor junior talent, and shape the next generation of sustainable power infrastructure—all while enjoying the flexibility of a fully remote work environment.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to own the end‑to‑end design lifecycle for complex electrical systems, from concept through commissioning. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams—mechanical, software, and project management—to deliver reliable, code‑compliant solutions for commercial, industrial, and renewable energy clients. This position offers autonomy to drive technical strategy, perform advanced simulations, and present design reviews to stakeholders, all without ever stepping into a physical office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead schematic capture, PCB layout, and power distribution design for projects up to 15 MW.
  • Perform load calculations, short‑circuit analysis, and protective device coordination using ETAP, SKM, or equivalent tools.
  • Develop and maintain design standards, documentation, and revision control procedures.
  • Mentor 2‑4 junior engineers, conducting code reviews and providing career guidance.
  • Interface with clients and regulatory agencies to secure permits and approvals.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including adoption of digital twin and model‑based design methodologies.

Requirements

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an ABET‑accredited program; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least one U.S. state, or clear path to licensure.

Technical Expertise

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in power systems, distribution, or renewable energy design.
  • Advanced proficiency with NEC, IEEE 1584, IEC 61850, and relevant local codes.
  • Hands‑on experience with simulation platforms (ETAP, SKM PowerTools, PSCAD) and CAD tools (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, Altium).
  • Strong background in medium‑voltage switchgear, transformer sizing, and protection relay programming.

Soft Skills & Remote‑Work Competencies

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a distributed team environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication for virtual design reviews and client presentations.
  • Self‑motivated, organized, and comfortable with asynchronous collaboration tools (Slack, Teams, Confluence, Jira).

Salary Range

Estimated Annual Compensation: $115,000 – $150,000 USD/year (base salary), plus performance‑based bonus and equity eligibility. Exact offer will reflect experience, licensure status, and geographic cost‑of‑living adjustments.

Benefits & Perks

Health & Wellness

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans with 100 % employer‑paid premiums for employee.
  • Health Savings Account (HSA) with company match.
  • Mental‑health resources, tele‑therapy, and wellness stipend.

Financial & Retirement

  • 401(k) with 5 % company match, immediate vesting.
  • Annual performance bonus up to 15 % of base salary.
  • Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP) and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) for long‑term ownership.

Professional Growth

  • $3,000 annual continuing‑education budget for courses, conferences, and certifications.
  • Structured mentorship program and leadership development track.
  • Paid time for PE exam preparation and licensure maintenance.

Work‑Life Balance

  • Fully remote—work from any U.S. location with a reliable internet connection.
  • Flexible core hours (10 am–3 pm ET) with autonomy to set your schedule.
  • Unlimited PTO plus 10 paid holidays and a paid “recharge” week each year.
  • Home‑office stipend ($1,500 annually) for ergonomic equipment and high‑speed internet.

Company Culture

Our engineering organization thrives on curiosity, collaboration, and a shared commitment to sustainable innovation. We celebrate diverse perspectives, encourage experimental thinking, and invest heavily in the tools and training that let our people excel—whether they’re designing a microgrid in Texas or a data‑center power backbone in Virginia. As a remote‑first company, we’ve built rituals (virtual coffee chats, quarterly hackathons, annual on‑site summit) that keep the team connected and inspired.

How to Succeed in This Role

Success looks like delivering designs that exceed client expectations, reduce lifecycle cost, and accelerate the transition to clean energy. You’ll be measured on technical rigor, project leadership, and the ability to translate complex electrical concepts into clear, actionable deliverables for both technical and non‑technical audiences. If you’re ready to shape the electrical infrastructure of tomorrow from the comfort of your own workspace, this is the role for you.
