About the Role
In this pivotal position, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day technical operations within our state-of-the-art Wisconsin data center. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting on servers, storage arrays, networking equipment, and power/cooling systems within the data center environment.
- Execute physical and virtual server deployments, migrations, and configuration changes following established procedures and change management protocols.
- Monitor system performance and health using industry-standard tools, identifying potential issues before they impact service availability.
- Respond promptly to service requests and hardware failures, diagnosing root causes and implementing effective solutions.
- Maintain meticulous records of all hardware inventory, maintenance activities, and configuration changes within the CMDB (Configuration Management Database).
- Collaborate effectively with network engineers, system administrators, and other technical staff to ensure seamless infrastructure integration and support.
Requirements
We seek a candidate with a strong technical foundation and a genuine passion for data center operations. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of practical experience and relevant qualifications.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in a data center, server room, or network operations center (NOC) environment, demonstrating proficiency with common server platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), storage systems, and networking hardware (routers, switches, firewalls).
- Technical Knowledge: Proven ability to work with server hardware (HP, Dell, Lenovo), storage arrays (EMC, NetApp, Dell PowerVault), and network equipment. Experience with virtualization technologies is highly valued.
- Certifications: A+ and Network+ certifications are preferred. VMware VCP, MCSE, or similar data center-focused certifications are a significant plus.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong attention to detail, ability to work effectively both independently and within a team, and a commitment to safety protocols.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs, work comfortably in a controlled temperature environment, and perform tasks requiring standing, walking, and bending.
