We are seeking a detail-oriented Commissioning Manager to oversee project delivery entirely from a home office. This role combines technical leadership with the freedom to work from anywhere, offering a competitive salary and a supportive virtual team environment.

About the Role

The Commissioning Manager is the linchpin of any successful project delivery. In this fully remote position, you will act as the primary point of contact for all commissioning activities, ensuring that every piece of equipment, system, and facility is tested, verified, and ready for operation before it is handed over to the client. Unlike traditional roles that require physical presence on-site, this opportunity allows you to leverage your expertise from the comfort of your own home. You will be responsible for the strategic oversight of commissioning schedules, resource allocation, and quality assurance processes.

This role is ideal for someone who is self-motivated, highly organized, and comfortable navigating the complexities of remote team management. You will be expected to coordinate with a diverse group of professionals, including mechanical engineers, electricians, and project coordinators, all without ever sharing a physical workspace. Your ability to maintain high standards of communication and documentation will be the cornerstone of your success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement detailed commissioning plans that align with project milestones and client specifications.
  • Oversee the testing and verification of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and building automation systems.
  • Review technical submittals, shop drawings, and as-built documentation to ensure compliance.
  • Lead defect resolution meetings and coordinate corrective actions with subcontractors.
  • Prepare comprehensive commissioning reports and final closeout documentation.
  • Manage the commissioning budget, tracking costs and forecasting expenditures to ensure profitability.
  • Mentor junior staff and conduct virtual training sessions on commissioning procedures.

Requirements

Experience & Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with a solid foundation in engineering and project management. The ideal candidate possesses a unique blend of technical knowledge and people skills.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in commissioning, construction management, or facility management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field is preferred.
  • Certifications such as LEED AP, PE, or equivalent are a strong plus.
  • Demonstrated experience managing commissioning for projects valued over $1 million.

Benefits

We are committed to building a workplace that supports your well-being and professional growth, even when that workplace is your living room.

  • Competitive annual salary with performance-based bonuses.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance coverage for you and your dependents.
  • Unlimited paid time off policy paired with company holidays.
  • Annual home office allowance to cover internet, equipment, and ergonomic furniture.
  • Professional development fund for continuing education and certifications.
  • 401(k) with employer match to help you build long-term wealth.

Salary Range

Based on industry standards and the scope of this role, the estimated salary range is $55,000 to $80,000 USD per year. This is a full-time, salaried position with no hidden fees or overtime expectations.
