About the Role
Core Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end electrical design for 50MW+ solar photovoltaic arrays and 100MWh+ battery energy storage systems (BESS)
- Develop and validate power system models using ETAP, PSS®E, and MATLAB/Simulink to ensure grid compliance with IEEE and NERC standards
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical engineers, project managers, and utility partners to resolve interconnection challenges
- Review and approve vendor submittals, technical specifications, and construction drawings to ensure alignment with project requirements
- Mentor junior electrical engineers and conduct technical training sessions for internal stakeholders on emerging power electronics trends
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an ABET-accredited institution; Master’s degree preferred
- 7+ years of professional experience in power systems design, with at least 3 years focused on utility-scale renewable energy projects
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in any U.S. state (ability to obtain reciprocal licensure in additional states is a plus)
- Proficiency with electrical design software including AutoCAD Electrical, SKM PowerTools, and PVsyst
- Deep understanding of NEC, IEEE 1547, and FERC interconnection regulations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting technical concepts to non-engineering stakeholders
